Tonemaster Deluxe Speaker
I finally found a Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb at a low enough price to justify buying one more amp I don’t quite need (black tolex, Jensen model). I still love my TM Twin, but I needed something better than my Katana 50 as a grab-n-go rehearsal/acoustic gig amp. Out of the box, I wasn’t very happy with the tone, even with some tweaking from an offboard equalizer, dipping 800khz a bit, as well as some higher end. Knowing from my long experience with the TM Twin that I’m not a huge fan of the Jensen neo, I auditioned several speakers. I ended up with a Celestion Copperback Neo 250 (borrowed from the TM Twin) as the best fit for my ears. Kind of a pricey upgrade, but I took it to exactly the sort of gig I might need it for—all acoustic, small room, gather-round mic—and it acquitted itself well, so it’s a keeper.
Realizing that many folks are perfectly happy with the stock Jensen, for those who aren’t I’m curious what other speakers folks might be using in their TM Deluxes.

Anyone?
One month in, and this amp with the replacement speaker has acquitted itself well on a few gigs and rehearsals.

You seem to have a situation where there aren't many other people with the same experience (at least, in the steel guitar world).
I'd suggest posting in a Fender amp specific forum such as the Fender Forum. Good luck!

Count me as one who is happy with the Jensens in the TM Twin.

Re: Tonemaster Deluxe Speaker
I have the blonde version of this amp. It came with a Celestion cream back as the stock speaker in it. I bought it originally for playing my tele's through, which sounds fantastic. But now I use it for everything, pedal steel, lap steel, and even acoustic guitars. It's the most versatile amp I've ever owned, and weighs only 23#! I do use a para di for acoustics, and a Freeloader for steel in front of it. The icing on the cake are the ir cab Sims when I have to XLR to the house. Fantastic! Needless to say, I wouldn't change a thing on mine. Happy camper!
