Rob's comment has me wondering. He's right. I had a good friend who I was told had died. I felt bad and shed a few tears. Guess who called me that night? My old "dead" friend which I now call Lazarus. I find it funny that Dave Hartley has not posted a response and that John's web sight says nothing. All I can find on the internet is about John's heart attack in 2012. Has this confirmed ?? RP

97 is wrong, but unfortunately the great guitarist and partner of Dave Hartley in those videos has passed away. I knew him and know his wife. I don't believe he'd made 60 years old yet.

Godspeed John Stannard
I first heard John through David's videos and like many was taken by his tone and playing. A picker and a grinner.
John and David together, with a minus-1 band, put out some heartfelt music.
Glad for the videos.
Condolences to John's family and friends.
On the Tele forum he's Big John.

RIP John
Today, November 28, 2015 I just now heard that John had passed.
I’m shocked.
John and I exchanged a few emails about his guitar and the Fender Jazzmaster Ultra-Light amp he was using.
There’s more to the story but not now.
I’m in shock.
RIP John

John
Everyday, I watch David Hartley and John Stennard on YouTube. David was kind enough to post a lot of quality videos on YouTube. John was really a fantastic player.

So sad
I only discovered Dave & John a couple of months back.
Been letting them play all night while I sleep and loving everything they play.
They are both such fine players, but more important, you can tell from the videos they are great people too.
So sad to now see John is gone.
God bless.

Re: So sad
Andy, glad to note I'm not the only one who a few years ago before getting my first psg used to listen as well during sleep to these guys go at it. Although he's dabbled in many fine guitars, it was Hartley's playing and videos that cinched me on a Sho Bud.Andy De Paule wrote:I only discovered Dave & John a couple of months back.

John exemplified once again the power of chicken pickin' on a Tele.
Brilliant stuff!

I sleep better
Hi Godfrey,
Not sure why but I sleep better with music playing at low volume.
Sad to think about John having passed away so young.
Guess that's alway up the the management upstairs.
Best wishes,
Andy

I found out late that…John Stennard “RIP”
Sadly A Brother in Music John Stennard has Passed, what a great loss to the Music World…
He was known (by me) for the beautiful work he always did playing with Pedal Steel Hobbyist and Great David Hartley (The Master of the E9th Neck) John will be sorely missed by all…
May Gods Peace that passes all our Understanding be upon John and his Family.
Respectfully,
JSM
