Goodrich Omni Volume Pedal Stiff

My volume pedal still doesn't move smoothly. Edit: it seems to be the pot itself... is there any part on the turning spindle of the shaft that needs oiling? I think not but I can't figure it out.

i would try a minute quantity of triflow type teflon lube, and if that doesn't do it i would send it home to Oceanside for a visit. Kevin is great with any mods, as you would expect.

(I can bring some genuine Williams teflon lube down with needle applicator if you need)

Depending on when it was made- the newer Omni pedals have adjustable tension by adjusting the allen head screws on each end of the axle. Great job here Kevin!

I have never been a fan of using lubricants In our volume pedals. Often times it needs to be restrung and with our tensioning axle, loosen an slowly tighten it up to your desired feel or give me a call 760 547 1260

The problem wasn't that the pedal needed lubricating. The problem was that the collar on shaft was mounted a little too close to the base and was slightly dragging. Okay just wanted to put this explanation here in case someone in the future with the same problem stumbles across this.

I have two really old Goodrich Model 120 pedals. The newest one was purchased from Jeff Newman, way before he died!

Over the years, I have found that whenever one of the pedals loses its smoothness in the sweep, it has always been an issue with the string. I just unwrap the string and then rewrap it. The smoothness returns.

I have photos of the pot and string on my phone. That way I can refer to the pics to see how the string winds. The two pedals are different inside, due to their age differences. The pics help immensely. Remember to wrap the string so the pedal doesn't shut off the sound completely when the heel is all the way down. Let the pedal stop do its job before the pot hits the end of its sweep. That will add years to the life of the pot.
