Steel sighting

I saw this chap last week in a small club. Kind of rough version of Steel Guitar Rag but entertaining non the less. Don’t know why Mr. Newton is playing small clubs hope he’s not broke. He seems to have a great appreciation for steel guitar tho.

When you’re 82 and still performing, you do it because you can. I doubt that Wayne Newton needs the money. Small club venues are a cool option for a guy like him. U2 should try it 😎

I’m assuming E tuning, since he’s playing SGR. Maybe E6. And he has settled the picks/no picks issue for himself…

I have read somewhere that Clarence White played on one or some of his records. Got to do some searching...
Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube.

I recently saw a video clip of Wayne playing Steel Guitar Rag. Let's just say he's a fine singer 😉 And kudos for promoting the steel guitar!

He goes way back with the steel guitar... 1950s.
