Williams Guitars Customer Support

Post by Gary Peters »

Hi All

I'm sure I'm not the first person on the forum to congratulate Bill Rudolph of Williams Guitars for his incredible help and support. Being based in the UK, where the steel guitar is still a relative rarity as are Williams guitars, I always pray that I don't encounter any technical problems that I cannot solve, and I cannot solve any technical problem, period. Anyway, I have been encountering a relatively minor issue this week which was becoming very annoying as I had some time to do some intensive recording. So I emailed Bill for some help. As always, I received an immediate response (given the time different...he had to get out of bed after all), which suggested numerous solutions. When I responded revealing the full extent of my technical ignorance, I then received another email with more suggestions and photos of the underbelly indicating exactly what I should adjust/lubricate...etc. This allowed me to fix things and contributed no end to my technical education. So, if I was buying a new steel guitar again today I would undoubtedly stay with my Williams not only because they are the most beautiful sounding and looking instruments out there (sorry, no debate), but the customer service is absolutely 5*.

Thanks again Bill!!!

Me too. I'm reasonably mechanical but I needed to rearrange the undercarriage, and Bill sent me the parts I needed very quickly. When I give up playing I'll keep the Williams just as a beautiful piece of furniture.

Nice to see Bill recognized for his attention to detail, and prompt responses. I played my new Williams at it's first gig June 19th.

It was such a pleasure to play, and listen to... first thing when I got home I sent Bill a thank you email :)

Years ago I had a VERY early Willy Keyless. Tiny, and as light or lighter than an old Sho bud Maverick.. Its design was nothing like a modern Williams.. Somehow Bill scrounged up enough obsolete parts for a design he hadn't made in years to get me up and running.. I added pedals/levers etc.. he was great to deal with and if I recall correctly those old rare parts were really reasonable, and he answered every question promptly.. One of the best guys I have dealt with in my 50 or so years of pedal steel playing/tinkering.... bob
