Is a peavey artist a good amp for steel
With a 15" speaker. I found one near me for

I would say just OK, particularly if one is only playing E9....and if it's not the VT model.
I owned a couple of them a few years back. I found it hard to get a pleasing middle out of them...seemed to be something missing for pedal steel. It was great for guitar.
4 6L6 tubes behind a solid state pre for 120W of power. Heavy.
Problems with old Peaveys, someone is always robbing out the BWs and replacing them with a lesser driver.
If this one has the original Spider Web BW in good working condition, you can probably make it work OK for your student.
