No SWSGA Show planned for 2026

Post by Sam Marshall »

The Southwest Steel Guitar Association's board of directors has voted to not hold our annual show in 2026. Several logistical difficulties have arisen that would make it difficult to arrange and provide a show of the quality that we have grown to expect in January 2026.

Also, Troy Porter has decided to step down from the president's position on the SWSGA board. We will be meeting very soon to work on our future course which we hope will include a show in 2027.

Many thanks to Troy & Peggy Porter for their years of leadership with the SWSGA and their dedication to guiding our show for the past few years!

The SWSGA is planning on still continuing our spring & fall jams and are also considering other smaller events in the interim. More news to follow.

Best Regards,
Sam Marshall

So sorry to hear about the 2026 show, Sam. I began attending in 2017 and every show was fantastic. I've met many new friends at these shows as well as bumping into some old friends I hadn't seen since the 70's.

But I'm glad to hear of the possibility of a 2027 show. I'm not close by (Aptos, CA) but happy to help out at the show should you need extra volunteers.

I am very sorry to hear this news. I understand that it’s financially difficult to keep such a ship afloat and appreciate everything that Troy and Peggy and many others have done over the years to get it this far. I would be willing to contribute financially, and in any other way possible to see it return in 2027. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of service. This show has meant a lot to me over the years and I’m happy to repay the kindness if I can.
