Unlike many people here, I'd bet many fans of vintage music havenever heard of 'The Whippoorwills', a late 40s/early 50s band that featured the fabulous guitarist Roy Lanham and Doug Dalton, a pioneering swing electric mandolin player who counted the great Jethro Burns among his fans. They sang in close harmony vocals - like Manhattan Transfer - and their swing solos and arrangements are first rate. These are some of the best sounding recordings of the Whipps I've heard. Downloadable with apps like YouTube to mp3.

Re: The Whippoorwills
Our Western swing band does a number of Whipps tunes. I think they were the greatest “unknown” band in “country” music.
I have all the Smiley Burnett radio shows where they were the house band. GREAT stuff!!! These are available at a few oldtime radio websites.
