Lynn Frazier

Post by Herb Steiner »

A post from his wife on Facebook today announced that legendary Austin steel guitarist Lynn Frazier has died from various natural causes.

A fantastic soloist, Lynn had high visibility gigs with major artists Ray Price, Hank Thompson, and others, but one singular position as the original steel guitarist in the Broadway production of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and the accompanying album had many steel players scratching their heads trying to duplicate his great solos from that show.

I've know Lynn since 1970, and he was an amazing musician. RIP Lynn.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Lynn was playing steel with Ray Price when I came on the band in 1967 playing guitar.
We became good friends! Great steel player and a great person!

So sorry to hear about Lynn.
I heard him play when he was just a young kid.
He was a wonderful steel player.
Condolences to the family.
