That Lucky Old Sun

Post by David Wisson »

Hi All Like the Snowman at Christmas this is a song by Ray Charles who's CDs are in my Christmas playing pile every year. There's a great black & white YouTube video live from 1964 with the audience perched on the edge of there seats. Hope you like it. it goes down to the second fret and as far up as the 26th. never been up there before. Dave :D https://soundcloud.com/mr-wiss/lucky-old-sun?

That's not a well-known song, despite a number of famous musicians covering it. In addition to Ray Charles there's a duo of Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney from a few years ago. Louis Armstrong covered it, as did Brian Wilson. It reached number 1 on Billboard back in 1949 sung by Frankie Laine, and some other guy name Frank (Sinatra) charted with it about the same time. So an interesting choice for a steel instrumental, for sure. You do a great job. Thanks for sharing it!
