2nd String #@*!?*

2nd String #@*!?*
I do very little with the second string. Usually when I touch it, every one in the place knows it! It's by accident and it puts chills down my spine.
Can anyone help with some standard licks for this thing so I can act like I know what I'm doing when I hit it?

Just a thought, Jim--I changed my tuning and now have my second string tuned to D natural, raising it to D# with RKR (I also lower it to C# with LKL2). I like this for a number of reasons--first off it's six of one, half dozen of the other whether you kick for the natural or for the #, and to paraphrase Mike Perlowin, if you're gonna hit a clam, often better with the D nat.
As with everything we discuss here, this is arguable and your mileage may vary.

You can use it to do a real nice 5-1 counterpoint lick like this:

There are very few songs out there now days that Don't use the 2nd string in one form or another. It would be to your advantage to listen to Paul Franklin, Lloyd Green, Buddy Emmons, Doug Jernigan. Lloyd Green used it consistantly. Doug Jernigans' tune; Cross Country is based on this string change. Just about evry song Paul Franklin does, he uses the 2nd string somewhere.
