need info on this Fender ,please
Hi,
yesterday I saw this fender and I wonder if anybody can help me
with info about this instrument:
the body as been repainted
the pick up doesn't look like others fender I've seen before
it has a device to mute the strings (it says fender mute pat. pend.)
the volume and tone are mounted on a different piece of wood
the instrument does not have legs sockets and there is a cavity under the bridge
as if it was supposed to work with pedals but the bridge does not move
from the big logo I would say it is a C.B.S.instrument but I
wonder if it is a fake
thanks for any info

It looks to me like a Fender 1000 pedal steel which has been repainted, with the legs and changing mechanism removed, resting on a keyboard stand.

So it's a 1000 instead of a 400? I gotta start paying more attention to pedal steels
.
Perhaps they thought they could make twice as much money if they had two guitars to sell, or perhaps the other half of the guitar was damaged beyond recovery.

If it's half of a Fender 1000, it's a newer model than mine, which was a '59 or '60. Check the pickups
